How to Make Bow Ties

1.Fabric & Lining

Popular fabric for tie is polyester (imitated silk ) or 100% mulberry silk

Wool or polyester is suggested for lining,wool is for very high quality requirement

2.Cut the fabric and lining for bow tie shape

Cut the fabric and lining into the bow tie size and shape

3.Ironing the lining onto the fabric

Ironing the lining on the back side of the tie fabric flatly

4.Sewing the skinny ends of two lining and fabric together

Place the front sides of fabric facing each other and sew a straight across the narrow end

5.Flip the inside of the bow tie out from a small hole on the top of short side

6. Sew the remaining edge

Flip the ends inside and sew a straight stitch, closing the tie into a long tube  

7.Iron the bow tie and add clip or buttons on the ties

How to Make A Self-tied Bow Tie

1.Choose polyester,silk cotton or a wool fabric

2.Cutting the fabric into two rectangle shape,big rectangle about 5x7 inch,small one about 2x5inch   

3. Fold the larger rectangle into thirds length-wise, so that the fabric print is facing out on both sides. Sew them together

Fold the smaller piece of fabric into thirds and iron to hold the shape

4.Fold the ends of the large rectangle in to meet each other in the middle. Sew to keep them in place.

Pinch the middle of the fabric together.Tie a piece of the thread with same pattern as the tie around the pinched center to hold the bow tie shape.

5.Wrap the smaller piece around the center of bow and stitch in the back of the bow tie.
